Added about an ounce or cream cheese to thicken it a little more. It is very tasty! This recipe was so good! I was only cooking for myself so I did it about half eyeballing, nothing exact. I diced a little bit of white onion and sauted in olive oil until soft then added the butter and cream and I used two small cloves of garlic, added the spices and simmered for 3 minutes. I then turned it off and diced up some heirloom tomatoes how ever many you want and stirred it in then added my pasta and combined.
I chopped up some fresh parsley and sprinkled it on top. Well I bought a cheap jar of Alfredo sauce. I needed MORE. SO I thought I might have all the ingredients and I did. I kept the sauces separated. Too good to share. I never felt guilty either! Sauce will thicken rapidly, thin with milk if cooked too long.

I read alot of reviews on this and just kinda figured either I would really like it or really hate it. This was the best alfredo I have ever had!!! I didn't even taste a hint of cream cheese and the sauce turned out smooth and creamy and cheesy!! I served it with cut up grilled chicken and fettucine.
I had some extra sauce so I took it to my friend and she thought it was super delicious!! This will be the only alfredo I make from now on! I hate the jar stuff! Put the milk in a little at a time and just keep stirring. Don't use too high of heat and I'm telling you your sauce will turn out perfect!!

I used margarine instead of butter and homogenized milk instead of heavy cream. I did not need to use any thickening agents-the consistency was just right.
Just toss with fettucine and serve. Read More. Rating: 1 stars. My husband was none too pleased, and my children were less than enthused which is a far cry from their usual elation with my Italian cooking. I made this for my family yesterday, and recognized the taste right away as being a recipe I've made before though not from this site copy cat recipes; the book actually.
While I know that I'm am a tough critic having lived for 3 years in Italy this wasn't even passable to my husband who has only visited there with me. This alfredo is fine for someone with a bland palate, but if it's flavor you crave then move on to a recipe more original and authentic.
Reviews: Most Helpful. You would not believe how incredible this sauce is! My husband and I made this sauce served over fettuccine noodles for my friend and her husband, as they just had their third child a few days ago and we figured they could use the break from cooking - they went nuts, they loved it so much! Even their two younger sons 3 and 2 loved this dish. Another good tip is to add a can of drained mushrooms to the sauce - it really tastes great. The next time I might use milk and a little cornstarch instead of the cream as one previous reviewer suggested and perhaps reduced fat margarine to save on fat and calories.
Be sure to use fresh shredded parmesan available in bags in the dairy section , Kraft grated just doesn't do it as well - and the shredded parm melts really well. ENJOY this incredible dish!
